The technique to make these tiles has been inspired from the traditional french ceramics called “terres vernissees”. 

It consists in pouring a white slip over the red terracotta, drawing in sgrafitto over it and painting with natural oxides, iron, cobalt, copper, manganese. The tile is then covered with a thin coat of lead glaze and fired to bring out the colours of the oxides.
